As you know, life is often a roller-coaster ride of emotions, with teen years being especially susceptible to wide variations in mood. It is easy to misread depression as normal adolescent turmoil; however, depression is among the most common disorders in youth today. Suicide is directly related to mental illness, typically associated with depression, and is one of the most serious public health problems facing our youth. Currently, over 90% of youth who die by suicide have a mental disorder that is often undiagnosed or untreated.
Depression is just one of many mental illnesses that young people experience today. At Leland High School, the administrators, faculty, and staff are committed to addressing this issue by providing access to resources for parents. We have also included resources for students which can be found here:
The resources provided are collected on our website for your reference and convenience. Postings do not indicate endorsement or sponsorship by SJUSD, Leland High School, or its administrators and staff.
