Civil War Battlefield Project
Each group then randomly selected a Civil War battle to research.
Once each group has selected their battle, they will each choose a
job:
- Historian: Research and give descriptions of battle,
and explain its importance to the War, and present key figures from both sides. They
also identified 4 important world events during the time of
their battle in a powerpoint or keynote presentation.
- Scientist:
Research the following information: either a weapon or medical
treatment (each group will pick a different one to
research), environmental conditions, and location, terrain, and
topography of their battlefield and present it as their part of
the powerpoint or keynote presentation
-
Statistician: Research and present statistical
information on casualties, ammunition, and food rations from
both sides and organized the data bar graph to be inserted into the presentation. They also
needed to compare casualties and total cost of the Civil War to
other wars and organized data on a bar graph.
-
Cartographer: Create a 3-D, scale-model of the
battlefield. It should contain a key that describes locations,
troop movements, the topography, and labels the appropriate
units.
The following 35 Civil War battles were carefully selected ,
making sure enough information is available for each student.
