1. Course Content and Standards: Students will participate in realistic business applications using the 
“Microsoft Office 2000 Suite”, including Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access, Excel and Outlook.
Students will use the Internet and Adobe Photoshop for presentation projects. They will practice
keyboarding towards a goal of 35wpm. This year we will focus on the lifelong learning standards:
Self-directed Learners
, Responsible members of society and Information Processors.

2. Rules and Expectations Class/School: Students are expected to know and adhere to all School and
District policies and behavior standards outlined in the Student and Parent Information Handbook of
San Jose Unified and the Leland Student & Parent Handbook.

3. Testing: Types/Frequency/Policy: There will be a midterm exam, a final exam consisting of an
application test, a vocabulary test and a  keyboarding timed test.

4.  Homework: Frequency/Policy: There will not be any specifically assigned homework. Students may
be occasionally asked to provide an item for a project such as a recipe or a photograph. All projects will
be produced in class on the lab computers.

5.  Research/Special Projects: Students will be doing single and group projects in class to develop
presentation projects using their assigned computers. They will also be working on graphics projects and
doing Internet research.

6.  Absence/Make-up Work: Students who are absent may make up work during T-period, or, they may
arrange a time with me.

7.  Tardy Policy: Students must be at their computers and ready to work when the bell rings.

8.  Participation: Students will be expected to participate in class during group projects and presentations.

9.  Written Work Format Policy: All printed work submitted to me must have the name of the student, the
class period and the date on a header or footer as appropriate.

10.  Assessment/Grading System: Grades will be determined as follows:

Final Exam – 15% 
Class work – 30%
     
  Quizzes – 20%  
  Midterm Exam - 15%  
Keyboarding – 10%
