12/02/09
We learned about slump molds today.  We rolled out slabs and laid them over the bottom of bowls or plaster slump molds.  We created a design on the bottom with our names.
12/3/09
Today we learned about Mashima and Sgraffito.  These are two incising techniques.  We did the border today using the mashima technique.
12/04/09
Today we painted 3 layers of englobe on our platters covering the incising we did on the borders yesterday.  We then scraped off the layers on the border revealing the englobe that went down into the incising.  We then did the sgraffito technique on the center of the platter by incising a design into the englobe which will reveal lines of the clay body with a background of the colored slip (englobe)
1/05/2010
Today we began brainstorming ideas for our carving project.  Students were given the option to carve soap stone or to repeat success with balsa foam.  Mrs. Imerson gave the homework assignment to gather visuals and resources for their carving.  She will send home the powerpoint on carving for students to look at at home.
